Close call....
.
You try to stay still and blend into the surroundings, hoping that whatever is out there won’t notice you. You hold your breath as the rustling gets louder, and you see a shadowy figure moving through the trees. A large winter wolf stalks through the trees passing inches from you. You hear your heart beating in your ears. After a few moments, the wolf passes on.
You take a deep breath and try to calm your racing heart. You realize that you need to find your way back to the village before it gets too dark. You take out the map and study it carefully, trying to figure out where you went wrong.
After a few minutes, you finally see a familiar landmark, and you know that you’re on the right track. You walk with renewed confidence, and after a few more twists and turns, you see the edge of the forest. You step out into the sunlight, feeling a sense of relief wash over you.
As you make your way back to Maganwyth’s cottage, you can’t help but feel a sense of disappointment. You had hoped to prove yourself to her, to show her that you could handle the dangers of the forest. But when you arrive, Maganwyth’s expression is one of deep disappointment. “You’re back,” she says flatly, her tone devoid of any warmth. “But you failed to retrieve the herb I sent you for, and I can see that you still lack the skills necessary to navigate the forest.”
You feel a pang of shame and sadness, realizing that you have let Maganwyth down. She had placed her trust in you, but you were not able to meet her expectations. You know that you have much to learn, and you vow to work harder to prove yourself worthy of her trust.
